1. Ownership of Content

All content available through The Story We Leave™ is the exclusive property of Debb Daughtry and is protected by United States copyright, trademark, and other applicable intellectual property laws.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Journals and companion booklets

  • Journal prompts

  • Facilitator materials

  • Training courses

  • Videos and audio recordings

  • Graphics and illustrations

  • Downloadable resources

  • Worksheets and templates

  • Digital Legacy Club content

  • Digital Legacy Archive materials

  • Website text and images

  • Logos, branding, and trademarks

No portion of these materials may be copied, reproduced, distributed, modified, translated, republished, displayed, transmitted, or used for commercial purposes without prior written permission.

2. Permitted Use

You may use TSWL™ products and services for your own personal, non-commercial use.

Licensed Facilitators may use approved materials only as expressly permitted under their individual written licensing agreement.

You may not:

  • Copy or reproduce journal prompts.

  • Share course materials or member-only content.

  • Upload or distribute TSWL™ materials to other websites or platforms.

  • Resell digital downloads.

  • Remove copyright or trademark notices.

  • Modify or create derivative works based upon TSWL™ materials.

  • Use TSWL™ content for commercial training or educational programs without written permission.

3. Purchases and Payments

By purchasing journals, memberships, interviews, courses, facilitator certification, digital products, or services, you agree to provide accurate and complete payment information.

Unless otherwise stated:

  • Digital products are delivered electronically.

  • Digital purchases are generally non-refundable once access has been granted.

  • Physical product returns are subject to our published return policy.

  • Prices and offerings may change without prior notice.

4. Digital Legacy Club Membership

Membership provides access to exclusive member-only resources while your membership remains active.

Benefits may include:

  • Guided journaling prompts

  • Private online journal access

  • Downloadable PDFs

  • Educational resources

  • Legacy Archive features

  • Member interviews

  • Exclusive content

  • Special offers

Membership benefits may evolve as we continue improving our programs.

5. Legacy Interviews and Recordings

If you participate in a Legacy Interview, your interview may be recorded with your knowledge and consent.

Unless you provide separate written permission:

  • Your recordings remain private.

  • Your personal stories will not be published or publicly shared.

  • You retain ownership of your personal story.

If you later choose to allow portions of your interview to be used for educational or promotional purposes, we will request your written permission separately.

6. Digital Legacy Archive

The Digital Legacy Archive is intended to help preserve your memories and legacy materials.

While we make reasonable efforts to protect stored information, clients are encouraged to maintain personal backup copies of all uploaded materials.

Although we use reasonable safeguards, we cannot guarantee permanent storage or protection from every technical failure, cyberattack, natural disaster, or other unforeseen event.

7. Intellectual Property

The following are protected intellectual property of Debb Daughtry:

  • Logos

  • Branding

  • Original artwork

Unauthorized use is strictly prohibited.

8. Artificial Intelligence

Unless expressly authorized in writing, you may not upload, reproduce, distribute, or use any TSWL™ materials to train, develop, enhance, or support artificial intelligence models, machine learning systems, large language models, or similar technologies.

9. Disclaimer

The Story We Leave™ products and services are intended for legacy preservation, education, storytelling, and personal reflection.

They are not intended to provide medical, psychological, therapeutic, legal, financial, or professional advice.

Always seek qualified professionals regarding medical, legal, financial, or mental health concerns.

10. No Guarantees

While The Story We Leave™ is designed to encourage meaningful storytelling and legacy preservation, we make no guarantees regarding emotional outcomes, family relationships, publication opportunities, business success, or any other specific results from using our products or services.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Story We Leave™, Debb Daughtry, employees, contractors, facilitators, volunteers, affiliates, and partner organizations shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from the use of this website, products, services, interviews, memberships, or Digital Legacy Archive.

12. Termination of Access

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to memberships, courses, facilitator resources, or other digital services for violations of these Terms of Use, misuse of intellectual property, unlawful conduct, abusive behavior, or any activity that interferes with the operation or integrity of our programs.

  • Use our logos or branding.

  • Incorporate TSWL™ materials into another course, workshop, book, website, or product.

  • Record or distribute training materials.

3. Licensed Facilitator Use

Licensed Facilitators may use approved materials only within the scope of their signed licensing agreement.

Certification recognizes successful completion of The Story We Leave™ Facilitator Training. Certification alone does not transfer ownership of intellectual property or grant permission to reproduce, modify, sublicense, distribute, publish, or create derivative works from TSWL™ materials except as expressly authorized in a separate written licensing agreement.

4. Permission Requests

To request permission, please provide:

  • Your name

  • Organization (if applicable)

  • Contact information

  • Description of the requested material

  • Intended use

  • Distribution method

  • Estimated audience or number of copies
